Ticketing Questions

Why did I have to pay a fee?

K
L

We use service fees to keep our historic building running. Fees help pay for things like web maintenance, ticket-selling software, and employee labor. We do our best to keep this fee as low as possible. Sometimes, promoters will add a fee in addition to our standard fee.

How do I know if my online ticket order was confirmed?

K
L

After the order is complete, you will receive a confirmation email within an hour of your transaction. If you selected e-tickets, you will receive a second email with scannable e-tickets attached. Check your spam folder if you did not receive the email(s). If you have questions regarding your online purchase, please contact the box office at 336-333-2605.

Am I able to get a refund or exchange my ticket for another show?

K
L

Refunds are not offered on tickets unless the show is canceled due to inclement weather or artist illness.

If the show is canceled, your ticket purchase will automatically be refunded to your method of payment. If you used cash or check as a payment method, you will receive a Carolina Theatre check in the mail.

If the performance title has multiple show dates (e.g. Greensboro Ballet or Community Theatre of Greensboro performances), you can exchange your ticket for a $2 per ticket service fee with with a 48-hour notice prior to showtime (however, no refunds or exchanges after the original performance date).

If you have purchased Booking Protect and would like to make a claim, visit their site.

What is Booking Protect Refund Protection?

K
L

Booking protection is available at the time of purchase for most, but not all events. It is offered by The Carolina Theatre, through a third-party vendor, to protect your booking and enable you to receive a full refund if you’re unable to attend due to a number of reasons. It is not available to buy after your tickets have been purchased and does not cover you if you change your mind about attending the event.

Please read the full Terms and Conditions here.

If you have purchased Booking Protect and would like to make a claim, visit their site.

Is there a limit to how many tickets I can purchase for a given show?

K
L

It depends. Each show operates a little differently, so order and customer limits may apply. The easiest way to find out is to call the Box Office at 336-333-2605 or check out the event listing on our website.

Can I purchase tickets for a large group?

K
L

Sure! Group discount minimum sizes vary from show to show, but if you’re interested, call our Box Office at 336-333-2605, or contact us at [email protected].

Keep in mind, because we want to make sure our patrons get the absolute best prices, we do reserve the right to refuse a sale to anyone we think is a third-party vendor, scalper, or ticket broker.

What other discounts are offered?

K
L

Many of our shows are priced based on seating locations. There are a few events (including our movies) that offer discounts such as student, senior, or military. Please read the event listing for discount availability.

Does my young child need a ticket?

K
L

All patrons, including babes-in-arms, must have a ticket to enter our theatre. Every event promoter has a different policy, at times babes-in-arms are charged a full ticket price, while other times they are free (but still require a ticket.) We require everyone entering the building to have a ticket so that we know how many people are in the building for capacity issues, or if an emergency occurs.

How do I get my tickets?

K
L

It’s your choice! E-tickets* are available via email for most shows; tickets can be picked up at the box office; or there is an optional USPS mail fee of $3.00 per order.

*Emailed tickets should be saved to your mobile device. Do NOT print your e-tickets. Please do not screenshot your tickets either as they will not scan properly. Please have the tickets pulled up on your device prior to entry.

My seat numbers are 2 and 4. Are these seats together?

K
L

Yes. In the Betty and Ben Cone, Jr. Auditorium, seats are numbered even on the right, odd on the left, and consecutive hundreds in the middle.

My ticket was stolen... or it didn't arrive in the mail... or my dog ate it... or I lost it. It's gone, okay? It's gone! Can I get a new one?

K
L

Don’t worry! Regardless of how they disappear, we can reprint tickets free of charge. Reprinted tickets can’t be mailed, but you can pick them up the night of the show at the box office with photo ID.

If you accidentally left your tickets at home, please visit the Carolina Theatre Box Office to request a reprint. Be sure to present a photo ID and, if you know it, please give the Box Office your order number. But don’t worry – we can still print them for you without the order number.

I found tickets on a site that isn't CarolinaTheatre.com. Should I buy them?

K
L

  • Don’t do it! The Carolina Theatre Box Office and CarolinaTheatre.com are the only authorized outlets for tickets to events held in our venues.
  • We DO NOT accept tickets sold on a secondary market.
  • We reserve the right to decline entry if you are not the original ticket buyer.
  • Other ticketing sites usually increase the fees, and in some cases, you may end up with a fake ticket.
  • If you purchase a ticket from a third party/secondary market, keep in mind it is at your own risk. Buying from us ensures you get your ticket at face value, and more importantly, get to see the show you intended to see.

Side note: The Carolina Theatre does not condone the unfair and misleading practices of ticket scalpers who profit at the expense of true fans. To make sure our patrons get the absolute best prices, we do reserve the right to refuse a sale to anyone we think is a third-party vendor, scalper, or ticket broker. Ticket orders found to be in violation of the Carolina Theatre’s reselling policies will be canceled.

Unauthorized Ticket Brokers

K
L

The only official ticket providers for The Carolina Theatre and The Crown at the Carolina are carolinatheatre.com, the Carolina Theatre Box Office, and the Crown Box Office (open on performance days only).

We are not responsible for tickets purchased from unauthorized ticket brokers or websites and we don’t support the unauthorized reselling of tickets at a price of more than $3 above printed face value, as regulated by the state of North Carolina.

These websites are often made to look like legitimate ticketing agents of the Carolina Theatre by using our logo, photographs, press quotes, and venue name. No matter how legitimate a website may look, tickets that aren’t purchased directly from the Carolina Theatre may not be valid for admission.

If you purchased tickets from an unauthorized source and were not granted admission, there are several ways to seek a refund:

  1. Return to your point of purchase (e.g., your ticket broker or online ticket resale website), report that the tickets weren’t valid for entry and demand a refund. We will provide you with a letter stating that you were denied entry.
  2. If you are unsuccessful in demanding a refund from the vendor, we suggest that you contact the credit card company you used for the purchase. Explain the situation and ask that they refund you and offset future monies they may owe to the vendor – this is known as a “chargeback”. We will provide you with a letter stating that you were denied entry.

General Theatre Questions

Where is the Theatre located?

K
L

We are located at 310 South Greene Street in Downtown Greensboro.

What are your hours?

K
L

Our administrative office is open Monday through Friday from 9:00am until 5:00pm.

The Box Office is open Monday through Friday from noon until 3:00pm and at least 30 minutes prior to each performance for ticket purchases to that event only.

What if another patron is hindering my enjoyment?

K
L

If anyone is ruining the fun please contact a House Manager (located in the lobby during the show), a volunteer usher or a Concessions Staff Member as soon as possible. They will handle the situation.

Can I take photos or video during the show?

K
L

Unfortunately, for most events you cannot. We want each and every performance to be an amazing experience for all those involved, including our artists. Recording devices tend to get in the way and are a distraction to people in their seats and on the stage, and in some cases, are prohibited at the artists’ request. You can, however, take photos in our lobby.

Are food and drink allowed inside the theatre?

K
L

Yes! For most events, food and drink from our concessions stands and mixed drink bars are allowed inside the venues. No outside food or drink is allowed.

Should I have any allergy concerns at the concession stand?

K
L

Our popcorn, while delicious, is popped in peanut oil, but we offer chips as an allergy-safe snack alternative.

Can I enter the theatre after the show has started?

K
L

Certain events require that late arriving audience members be asked to wait in the lobby until they can be seated during a performance break.

I lost my wallet, phone, sweater, etc. How do I find them?

K
L

Please contact the Administrative Office (336.333.2600 x6) if you have lost items at the Carolina Theatre. If you find an item, please hand it to a House Manager (located in the lobby) or take it to the Concessions Stand.

Do you have on-site security?

Can I bring my bag into the venue?

K
L

Yes, for most events you are welcome to carry a bag, purse, or backpack up to 18” into the venue. Please leave any larger items in your car. To ensure the safety of all patrons, we reserve the right to inspect any item regardless of size.
