Step into The Hair Journey, a breathtaking ballet that weaves together Black culture, fashion, and dance in a visually stunning production. Created by Princess Johnson, this coming-of-age story follows Zuri, a young girl eager to wear her hair her way. When a sudden rainstorm transforms her straightened hair into an afro, she embarks on a dreamlike adventure—from the glamorous Weave Kingdom to the enchanting Land of Locs and Fros—ultimately discovering the beauty of her natural self. Featuring Royal Expressions Contemporary Ballet alongside live musicians, mesmerizing choreography, and breathtaking set designs, The Hair Journey redefines ballet as a powerful storytelling experience.
Starring: Brevin Gilliam as Young Zuri, Tenshi Dailey as Older Zuri, Brooke Gilliam as The Mom, Jhakya Burks as The Weave Queen, and Jade Donnell as Nywele, Queen of the Land of Locs and Fros alongside 15 – 20 castmates.
This performance is a premium experience and includes pre-show reception at 6 PM.
