Smoke Signals – Native American Heritage Month Movie

Recognized as being the first feature-length film written, directed, and produced by Native Americans to reach a wide audience both in the US and abroad, this coming-of-age story about uneasy rivals and friends on a Coeur d’Alene reservation in Idaho. When Arnold rescued Thomas from a fire as a child, Thomas thinks of Arnold as a hero, while Arnold’s son, Victor, resents his father’s alcoholism, violence, and abandonment of his family. When Arnold dies, the duo set out on a cross-country journey to Phoenix to retrieve his ashes.
