Letters From Home Documentary Premiere

Join Letters From Home for the premiere of their documentary!

From January to May of 2023, performance duo Letters From Home engaged in a nationwide tour with the goal of performing one show in every one of the Fifty United States. Filmmaker Jack Walterman traveled with the crew to chronicle the tour, and a documentary is currently in post-production under the direction of Dan Beckmann.

With this tour, Letters From Home was able to reach thousands of new people, and our hope for this documentary is that it might help us reach tens of thousands more. The film aims to highlight the effect that Letters From Home has on the people who find themselves in their audiences, as well as inspire viewers with a message of legacy and a call to action to make the world a better place with a simple message – the ripples we make today can shape the waters of tomorrow.

The Documentary will feature footage of the six-person tour team as they make their way across the United States in a four-month period of time. One-third concert-style performance footage, one-third verité-style road trip documentary, and one third deeply personal storytelling, Legacy will use this fifty-state tour as a vessel to tell the tale of Erinn Dearth, the daughter of a Vietnam-era coast guard veteran who was inspired by her father to create something to give back to her community. As a lifelong entertainer, Dearth formed a small trio of local vocalists to tribute the Andrews Sisters for veterans of World War II, and the legend of Letters From Home was born. Dearth’s unapologetic and uninhibited stage presence has been the engine of success for this performance group, and her unrivaled connection with audiences has garnered a large and passionate fanbase through LFH’s twelve-year journey. Fellow cast member Dan Beckmann, who is directing the film, is a life-long class clown with a knack for activating a wide emotional dynamic range. His work seeks to uplift viewers through deep laughter, spiritual catharsis, and the exploration of essential human truths. His influence can be seen in the essence of Letters From Home since his joining in 2018, and his passion for connecting audiences with his vision has shaped the trajectory of the group, which now centers on the healing and welcoming home of our Vietnam-Era veterans.
