Thank you:

A Message From Randy Spivey And Brian Gray

Whether you’ve contributed as a donor, sponsor, client, patron, performer, volunteer, stagehand, or any other way–you made the 2018-2019 year an extraordinary one for the Carolina Theatre. Because of you, our community’s independent, historic, nonprofit performing arts center is stable and thriving, forward-looking, and profoundly impactful, and we can’t thank you enough.

Your generosity has allowed the Carolina Theatre to operate with zero debt while expanding its reach, services, and capabilities. At 92-years-old, our historic building has seen extensive renovations that were funded by donors to the Setting the Stage capital campaign. All of this, plus the backing of an engaged and enthusiastic staff and Board of Directors, puts the Carolina atop a solid foundation, ready to grow alongside a vibrant City.

The impact of our beloved Theatre extends well beyond its gilded architecture and majestic stages. It reaches from downtown Greensboro to homes, schools, and businesses throughout the region. In addition to the hundreds of world-class performances and events that we host each year, the Carolina is a frequent destination for school field trips, welcoming schools from not only Guilford County but also the eight counties that border it.

As we enter the decade of the 2020s, our Board of Directors is beginning a new strategic planning process. Our goal is to ensure that our audience is a mirror image of our community and that every resident in our region has meaningful opportunities to enjoy a lifetime of making memories at the Carolina. We can do this only because of people like you. You give us confidence, for we know that we have the support of an enthusiastic community who loves this Theatre as much as we do.

Thank you again for believing in the Carolina. Together we’ve created an exquisitely appointed historic Theatre that is ready to continue making magic and memories for generations to come.

On behalf of a grateful Carolina Theatre, we are, very truly yours,

HEAR FROM MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY

BETH MANELLA, Volunteer

“The Carolina is a cornerstone of our downtown arts district—Greensboro would not be the same without it. As a young professional, helping out at the Carolina is a major highlight in my busy life!”

ROZALYNN FULTON, Executive Director, Community Theatre of Greensboro

“Because donors and sponsors help make the Carolina Theatre available and accessible to the Community Theatre of Greensboro, we’re able to stage productions such as the Wizard of Oz and give kids, youth, and adults the magical experience of performing on this historic stage—it’s like our own taste of Broadway!”

ABIGAIL DOWD, Greensboro-based singer/songwriter

“The Crown is a gem! The professional support from the staff, the excellent sound technician, and the intimacy and comfort of the venue for both performers and audience made our album release show magical on many levels!”

Façade Inspection

Thanks to donors on the Setting the Stage capital campaign, an inspection of the 92-year-old terra-cotta façade has been completed. This inspection assessed the structural integrity and restoration needs of the 92-year old terra-cotta façade, identifying specific work that must be done in coming years. Façade restoration and preservation is an ongoing, major need to ensure the iconic façade stands strong for another century.

History Preserved

Carolina Theatre’s documents, photos, and other historical items moved to the archives at UNC-Greensboro.
