Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

Join us for our 11th Annual Summer Film Festival, this year in The Crown, on the third floor of the theatre!

Our auditorium is closed for renovations this summer – to learn more, read about our Capital Campaign.

The world is astounded when Willy Wonka (Gene Wilder), for years a recluse in his candy factory, announces that five lucky people will be given a tour, shown all the secrets of his amazing treats, and one will win a lifetime supply of Wonka chocolate. Nobody wants the prize more than young Charlie (Peter Ostrum), but considering his family is so poor that buying even one bar of chocolate is a huge stretch, buying enough bars to find a golden tickets is unlikely in the extreme. But magic can happen! Charlie, along with his Grandpa Joe (Jack Albertson), get the chance of a lifetime and a tour of the factory. Along the way, mild disasters befall each of Charlie’s horrible cohorts, but can Charlie beat the odds and grab the brass ring? Directed by Mel Stuart. 1971. Rated G. 1 hour, 40 minutes.
