Whiskey Foxtrot / Jason Springs Band / Hawthorn March 30, 7:30 pm
In The Crown at the Carolina!
Whiskey Foxtrot is an Americana band from Winston-Salem, NC founded by Seth Williams and Sam Foster in 2017. Both Seth and Sam had been performing as solo artists for several years around North Carolina, and on various occasions would perform shows together. After they decided to team up together to form Whiskey Foxtrot in 2017, they quickly became a regional favorite. They play hundreds of shows per year across North Carolina and Virginia while continuing to grow a following in the Southeastern US, including Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina. Seth and Sam formed Whiskey Foxtrot with a common goal: to write, record, and perform their own material for audiences across the country.

Hailing from southern Virginia, Jason Springs released his debut album, “Blue Collar Bones & Busted Knuckles,” in late 2016. A culmination of trials and stories from the last ten years of his life, the album’s quality songwriting and catchy melodies earned him comparisons to such well noted artists like Steve Earle, Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton, and John Moreland. With years of performing under his belt, and a core of musicians backing him able to hold their own with the best on stage, he’s quickly gaining momentum as one of the region’s most up-and-coming artists, blending old school southern soul with his own unique style of alternative country, folk, and southern rock. Springs’ music is inspired by real life experiences, producing honest and thought provoking lyrics. With a new batch of songs and the next record already written, Springs and co. will hit the studio this winter to record their sophomore effort.

Working from the belief that tradition is made to evolve, the women of Hawthorn chart a creative course through Appalachian and Celtic roots to the present-day. Heather Scott and Taylor Holland craft songs with “a weight that sits with you long after their audible presence fades” (Red Line Roots). “When they harmonize, the edges of their voices bleed together like watercolors on paper” (WBUR). With a powerful vocal blend surrounded in old-time banjo, seascape guitar, and dreamy electric lines, Hawthorn is quickly claiming a place in the music of New England and beyond. Hawthorn’s newest LP, Maggie Willow, is now streaming everywhere.
