Taxi Driver

Good news, friends: The power is back & the movies are ON!
You may have seen that we ran into a little construction hiccup this morning, resulting in a powerless day at the theatre.  Things seem to be back up and running, though, so we expect this weekend’s Summer Film Festival features in The Crown (Taxi Driver, Fight Club, and
Persepolis) to run as originally scheduled. See you at the movies!

Join us for our 11th Annual Summer Film Festival, this year in The Crown, on the third floor of the theatre!

Our auditorium is closed for renovations this summer – to learn more, read about our Capital Campaign.

Travis Bickle (Robert De Niro) is a lonely, impotent and insomniac ex-marine, who spends his nights driving his taxi throughout the shadowy streets of mid-70’s New York City. Travis is fed up with society, wishing a “real rain will come and wash all the scum off the streets”. Despite being unable to connect with virtually anyone, Travis becomes infatuated with a blonde campaign worker named Betsy (Cybill Shepherd) and an adolescent prostitute named Iris (Jodie Foster). As Travis grows increasingly more paranoid, he begins to see these two inconsequential relationships as much more: as ‘missions’ of which he will need to be the savior. Directed by Martin Scorsese. 1976. Rated R. 1 hour, 54 minutes.
