ABOUT THE GOLD RUSH
In this classic silent comedy, the Little Tramp (Charles Chaplin) heads north to join in the Klondike gold rush. Trapped in a small cabin by a blizzard, the Tramp is forced to share close quarters with a successful prospector (Mack Swain) and a fugitive (Tom Murray). Eventually able to leave the cabin, he falls for a lovely barmaid (Georgia Hale), trying valiantly to win her affections. When the prospector needs help locating his claim, it appears the Tramp’s fortunes may change. 1925. Not Rated. 1 hour, 52 minutes.
ABOUT RON CARTER
Ron Carter is a sought after theatre organ and silent film accompanist playing in theaters throughout the southeast. He is the theatre organ consultant for Allen Organ Studios of Atlanta, the house organist for both the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center in Atlanta, and the Earl Smith Strand Theatre in Marietta, Georgia. He has been a member of the Strand Theatre Board of Trustees since its inception 14 years ago having served as Board Secretary for 13 of those years. He is also the past Chairman of the Board for Marietta’s Pops Orchestra, Symphony on the Square. Ron is the former President of the Atlanta Chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society and a recipient of its 2009 Life Time Achievement Award, the American Theatre Organ Society’s 2009 Honorary Member award, and was recognized by the Cobb County Georgia Cultural Arts Board as Cobb’s 2010 Outstanding Instrumentalist.
Ron has served five churches in a part time capacity as organist/choir director for over 40 years, and is currently part of a team of organists who play for worship services at Marietta First Baptist Church. He is also a retired Commander of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation after serving 38 years in public law enforcement. Ron and his lovely wife of 49 years, Donna, live in Marietta, Georgia and have one son, John, daughter-in-law Julie and two precious grand children, Abby and Jake!
Silent Series at the Carolina tickets are $7 for adults; $6 for students, teachers, seniors & military. Prices include sales tax. Special theatre pipe organ demonstration will begin at 7:00PM; silent movie with live accompaniment will begin at 7:30PM.
