Nu-Blu with Terry Baucom’s Dukes of Drive

In The Crown at the Carolina!

About Nu-Blu
Hailing from Siler City, Nu-Blu’s heart and soul is husband-and-wife duo Daniel and Carolyn Routh. Carolyn’s caramel-coated soprano is one of the band’s defining traits, at times a tender lullaby, at times a freight train headed straight for you, but always unwinding a surprising tale. Daniel is the group’s backbone, a multi-instrumentalist and backing vocalist. Calder Baker on vocals and banjo, and Justin Harrison on mandolin and fiddle round out the quartet’s warm, layered, Appalachian sound. Together they deliver upbeat, blazing-fingers pick work just as well as gentle, heartwarming ballads, and they do it all with a natural togetherness that can’t be faked, forged over hundreds of shows on the road.

About Terry Baucom’s Dukes of Drive
Blue Ridge Music Hall of Fame member Terry Baucom heard the sound of Earl Scruggs’ banjo on The Beverly Hillbillies, and at the age of 10, found himself wanting to learn to play. Baucom is known as The Duke of Drive, a reference to his ability to “drive” a song with his steady, hard-driving banjo style. His career has spanned time with Charlie Moore and the Dixie Partners, Ricky Skaggs, Jerry Douglas, and Wes Golding in the band Boone Creek, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, IIIrd Tyme Out, and more. After more than a dozen IBMA Awards, Baucom launched his solo career, and in 2013, he formed the band, Terry Baucom’s Dukes of Drive. Members include Joey Lemons on mandolin and vocals, Will Jones on guitar and vocals, and Joe Hannabach on bass. Today, the band enjoys presenting original songs, as well as some of the best-loved songs in Bluegrass.
