Elon Law’s Distinguished Leadership Lecture Series

featuring Preet Bharara.

Former U.S. Attorney and current bestselling author Preet Bharara – whose work included the prosecution of dozens of Wall Street executives on charges of insider trading and a money laundering operation led by Russian oligarchs – visits Greensboro to share stories from his career. Bharara’s visit is part of the 2019-20 Elon University Speakers Series focused on “Quest for Truth,” a theme designed to promote the values of freedom of expression, honesty and accuracy. One of Bharara’s final acts as U.S. Attorney was a refusal to resign at the request of former Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Bharara was fired soon after. His book “Doing Justice: A Prosecutor’s Thoughts on Crime, Punishment, and the Rule of Law” debuted in March at #4 on The New York Times bestseller list. It offers an overview of the American justice system, and why the rule of law is essential to society.

Presented by The Joseph M. Bryan Foundation with additional support for the Elon University Speaker Series from The News & Observer, The Charlotte Observer, and The Herald-Sun.
