Carolina Kids Club: The Little Mermaid

Part of our 10th Annual Carolina Kids Club – in The Crown!

See the film that ushered in a new era of Disney and gave us the first princess who was determined to be in control of her own destiny – The Little Mermaid!

In Disney’s classic animated romp, rebellious 16-year-old mermaid Ariel is fascinated with life on land. On one of her visits to the surface–which are forbidden by her controlling father King Triton–she falls for a human prince.  Determined to be with her new love Prince Eric, Ariel makes a dangerous deal with the sea witch Ursula to become human for three days. But the star-crossed lovers might not have it so easy!

About The Crown:
Once the sign shop for our historic theatre, The Crown on the third floor of the theatre has been remodeled to be an innovative black-box performance space.  Children can even see original posters from the 1920s on the wall!  The space is fully accessible, with two family bathrooms and its own concession stand.

About Renovations:
Why is the auditorium closed?  Our nonprofit is in a historic theatre, now 90 years old!  Part of our mission is to preserve the building so that we can continue to bring arts to our community.  This year we began Setting the Stage: A $2.5 million Capital Campaign to continue our mission.   Our 50 year-old seats (which no longer have replacement parts available), worn carpet, audio/visual technology, ladies restrooms, and our concession stand are all getting a makeover!  To learn more, click here!
