Clay Howard & the Silver Alerts

Clay Howard & the Silver Alerts with Gasket Hawkins and Abigail Dowd

Clay Howard & the Silver Alerts is a band fronted by, yep- Clay Howard- a 30 year veteran of the NC music scene.

The band was formed in the Spring of 2015 to play the new original music from the former singer of stratocruiser, Barely White, Diggin’ Taters and other bands dating back to the late 1980’s. A CD, “Who the Hell is Clay Howard?”, was released in April of 2015 and spent 3 months on the top seller’s chart on Amazon. The album also gave birth to the song, “Send Me an Angel,” which was voted the #1 song on WMEL, Melbourne, Florida for the year 2015. That same year , Clay was voted “Male Vocalist of the Year” by KUBU, Sacramento, CA.

In 2017, Clay released a pair of EPs, and was voted “Best Vocalist in the Triad” by the readers of YES! Weekly.

The band is made up of veteran Winston-Salem musicians-Doug Davis, Tim Beeman, Corky McClellen, and various guest guitarists- all members of other bands who graciously wander away from those gigs to make Clay sound better….thus the name The Silver Alerts.

Support 1: Gasket Hawkins
Gasket Hawkins is the brand-new, horn-fueled rock & soul machine from Triad veteran Doug Davis, featuring members of the Vagabond Saints’ Society, Clay Howard & the Silver Alerts, the Plaids, and the Phase Band, and featuring the High Point Horns.

Support 2: Abigail Dowd
Abigail grew up under the North Carolina longleaf pines and hints of the early Celtic settlers weave through her music. Her lyrics are mesmerizing and her bluesy voice has been described as “a rare thing that is at once strong and generous in its vulnerability.” She blends her classical guitar style with the edgy bass and percussion of Jason Duff. abigaildowd.com
