Greensboro Ballet: The Nutcracker December 11, 3:00 pm

From the moment you walk into the historic Carolina Theatre, festively decorated for the holidays, the magic begins. You're soon transported back in time to the home of young Clara celebrating the season with family and friends. After she receives a Nutcracker doll as a present from her Uncle Drosselmeyer, Clara will take you on a dreamy adventure with her through a battle between life-size mice and toy soldiers, then a sparkling land of swirling snowflakes, and finally, to an enchanting Land of the Dolls. The Sugar Plum Fairy and friends will entertain Clara and her Nutcracker Prince as the sumptuous Tchaikovsky score fills your ears with nostalgia and wonder.

NEW THIS YEAR: With all new choreography by our Artistic Director, Christine Cervino Grider, most of the production will be the traditional Nutcracker story and dances you've come to know and love. However, in an effort to be more culturally sensitive, Ms. Grider and the Greensboro Ballet are creating a new Act 2 called the Land of the Dolls. Instead of the Russian dancers, you will see the Matryoshka (or nesting dolls) perform for Clara. You will be enchanted by three lithe cats instead of the typical Arabian dancers. Come and see all of our new characters dancing alongside your classic favorites including the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Waltz of the Flowers.

Tickets are $45, $35, or $20, depending on location.
Ticket Commissions: A $5 processing fee and sales tax will be added to each ticket.
Everyone must have a ticket.

Students and children (ages 2-17 or with Student ID), seniors (60+), and Military save $5 per ticket.
Babes-in-arms (ages 0-23 months that will sit in your lap) are $10.
Groups of 14+ get $10 off the full price ticket.

Doors will open an hour before show time.

On December 10 and 11, add tickets to our pre-performance Tea With Clara at 1:45pm for a truly magical afternoon.
