The Sting - 2021 Summer Film Festival August 4, 7:00 pm

The Carolina Theatre Summer Film Festival is back for its 13th year!

Winner of seven Academy Awards, The Sting is an intricate comedy caper about a small-time crook (Robert Redford) and a veteran con man (Paul Newman) who seek revenge on a crime lord.

Following the murder of a mutual friend, aspiring con man Johnny Hooker teams up with old pro Henry Gondorff to take revenge on the ruthless crime boss responsible for their friend’s death. Hooker and Gondorff set about implementing an elaborate scheme, one so crafty that Lonnegan won't even know he's been swindled. As their big con unfolds, however, things don't go according to plan, requiring some last-minute improvisation by the undaunted duo.

Directed by George Roy Hill. Starring Robert Redford and Paul Newman. 1973, Rated PG, 2h 9min.
